I am excited that AMTA is celebrating its 25th annual National Massage Therapy Awareness Week® (NMTAW) on October 24-30.

NMTAW is a dedicated week for AMTA members across the U.S. to promote the health benefits of massage therapy and their practices to their clients and community.

I invite all of you – our valued members – to celebrate NMTAW! Here are some easy ways you can participate this year.

Educate The Public

NMTAW is a great opportunity to help educate your local community on the many health benefits of massage therapy. I encourage you to distribute research and information on massage at your practice and share it with doctors’ offices, health clubs, and other locations focusing on health and wellness.

You can access free massage education materials on AMTA’s website to help you get started.

Leverage Your Digital Presence

NMTAW can also be an optimal time to boost your digital presence with your clients and community. You can share articles and facts on the health benefits of massage therapy on your website, social media pages, or via an e-newsletter.

Or, maybe you want to encourage clients to book a massage by offering special promotions online?  And, don’t forget to follow AMTA on Facebook and Instagram all week long for great content to share on your pages.

National Holistic Institute is an important school member of AMTA and I look forward to seeing how all of you celebrate the 25th anniversary of NMTAW this year! – Steve Albertson, AMTA National President

Update Your Profile on AMTA’s Find a Massage Therapist® Locator Service

For graduates, now may be a good time to make sure your profile on AMTA’s Find a Massage Therapist national locator service is up-to-date. Or if you don’t have a profile, you may want to consider activating one. An effective profile can broaden your reach, build your brand, and educate current and future massage clients about your practice. You can even take it a step further and tell a colleague about the benefits of creating a listing.

AMTA also uses NMTAW as an opportunity to reach out to the national media to promote massage therapy to the general public and to share the latest consumer trends in the profession. This year we will highlight new research on how more consumers are looking to massage therapy for pain relief and health reasons. In fact, more consumers than ever before agree that massage should be considered a form of health care. And, we believe that NMTAW has played key role in helping advance the conversation on massage therapy for health and wellness among the public and others in the health care field.
