<p>San Jose became the first <a href="http://www.nhi.edu/" target="_self">National Holistic Institute</a> campus to hold a Haiti Disaster Relief Fundraiser this past Saturday.   With massages booked every available session and donations still coming in, the San Jose Campus has already raised <strong>over $1200</strong>!</p>
<p>Campus Manager Beth McNeill massaged alongside 10 student therapists, 2 graduates and 3 teachers for donations to go to Haiti victims.  Beth wasn’t looking to massage all three sessions when she came in to lend a hand, “but was excited just like [<a href="http://www.nhi.edu/" target="_self">NHI</a> teachers] Phil, Gena, and Darlene to help out where needed.”</p>
<p>Thanks to the staff and students of <a href="http://www.nhi.edu/" target="_self">National Holistic Institute</a> who are donating their time, skills and supplies so that all the proceeds of our special clinics can go to the people who need them.</p>
<p><em>Want to participate in one of our <strong>Haiti Disaster Relief Fundraiser Clinics</strong>?</em>  You still have 4 more opportunities.</p>
<p>Click on your preferred campus below to book an appointment.  <em>If your campus appears unavailable at the moment, <span style="text-decoration: underline;">please try again at a later date</span>.  Additional massage volunteers will allow more sessions to come available. </em>  </p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size: x-small; font-family: Arial;"><span style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: Arial;">&#8220;One of these days, together, I hope we do the impossible and wake up my kidneys.  In the meantime thanks to you and <span style="font-size: x-small; font-family: Arial;"><span style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: Arial;">all of the NHIers for keeping me going.  I feel great and no one knows by looking at me that I live with stage 5 kidney failure.  No drugs, no dialysis, just alternative care in clinic where I receive massage.  Thank you all.&#8221;</span></span></span></span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;"><span style="font-size: small; font-family: Times New Roman;"> </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;"><span style="font-size: small; font-family: Times New Roman;">As their next-to-last clinic, we took our students on a field trip to a nearby retired living facility.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">  </span>Wednesdays are normally “outing” days for the residents there, but they agreed to stay in this day to get massaged.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">  </span>And for 3 hours, that’s exactly what our students did – experiencing some very powerful stories along the way.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;"> </p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;"><a title="Retired Living clinic" href="http://www.nhimassageblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/08/encino-hills-retirement-home-aug-13-2008-0071.jpg" target="_blank"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-87" title="Retired Living clinic" src="http://www.nhimassageblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/08/encino-hills-retirement-home-aug-13-2008-0071.jpg" alt="" width="410" height="309" /></a> </p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;"> </p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;"><span style="font-size: small; font-family: Times New Roman;">There was the woman who had undergone back surgery, was about to have foot surgery, and suffered from Parkinson’s.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">  </span>After her massage, she told our student, “You gave circulation back to my legs.”</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;"><span style="font-size: small; font-family: Times New Roman;"> </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;"><span style="font-size: small; font-family: Times New Roman;">Then there was Leo, 98-years-old.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">  </span>He hadn’t left his room in 2 months.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">  </span>But massage brought him out.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">  </span>Feeling so good afterwards, he said he might even venture out of his room more often.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;"><span style="font-size: small; font-family: Times New Roman;"> </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;"><span style="font-size: small; font-family: Times New Roman;">Students practiced the gentle, caring touch that many seniors need.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">  </span>One woman cried as she told her therapist, “I haven’t been touched in so long.”</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;"><span style="font-size: small; font-family: Times New Roman;"> </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;"><span style="font-size: small; font-family: Times New Roman;">Several students said they received the most meaningful, heartfelt client feedback they had ever gotten.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">  </span>As they graduate next week, career and money are foremost on their minds.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">  </span>But at the heart of it all is the power massage has to help people.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;"> </p>
