NHI Clovis Graduate Julius Copeland shares his story of having work he loves as the Owner of Tru Blue Wellness & Massage

NHI Clovis Graduate, Julius Copeland, Owner and Sole Proprietor of Tru Blue Wellness & Massage

My story is probably like most people’s. We all have a past that we’re both proud of, and not so proud of. Being raised by a single Mom of four, and watching her do and go through all she did, was and is my inspiration. Being a single Father of a beautiful little girl only adds to my daily grind and drive. My fire was rekindled when I met with Sherry (Clovis Campus Admissions Representative). I had finally found what I knew I would be good at.  I love what I do, and thanks to the amazing staff at NHI, I am where I am, doing what I was guided to do because of that initial meeting.

While working in different industries, I’ve been injured multiple times. It’s funny, I tell people all the time that during my years of playing sports, I was never injured. I go into the work force and I sustained as I previously stated, multiple injuries. I am a firm believer that everything happens for a reason, everything has a purpose. It took 4 years after being injured again to realize that my life needed a change, a purpose. I prayed for guidance and a path, and here I am. I’ve always been the type of person that wanted to help people, and now I’m in the position to do just that. I’m truly blessed to be in that position.

I was reminded of my accomplishments by Sherry, that in the last year, and it made my allergies kick in =), I started massage school, I navigated through not just my schooling, but as a single Father, I had and still have the responsibility of navigating my Daughter through everything she is going through, I graduated, I started and opened my own business, Tru Blue Wellness & Massage, while dealing with the pandemic….all in a year! I’m 60 years old, and it’s always been my dream to start my own business. I have a motto: “If your dreams don’t scare you, then they’re not big enough.” My journey started 60 years ago, and it’s still going. I was asked by more than a few people, “Why are you starting a business now?” My response was, “If not now, when?” Do not let anyone deter you from going after your dream. Be inspired, and stay inspired.

“If you have a passion for helping people, and having a major influence on their lives, this is the career you need to pursue. The gratification, and the tremendous effect you can have on someone’s life and well-being, is uplifting.”

My Mother and Daughter inspired me, and they still inspire me everyday. I will not fail, because I keep myself surrounded by positive people and influential people. Go after your dream, and if they don’t scare you, then you’re not dreaming big enough. I get up everyday with the mindset, that I need to get and stay on my grind. My story is probably like yours, our journeys are probably different, but we share the same drive and determination. I have the, “Failure is not an option” mentality!! I’m so glad my initial appointment went the way it did, because if it had not, I may be on a different path.

If you have a passion for helping people, and having a major influence on their lives, this is the career you need to pursue. The gratification, and the tremendous effect you can have on someone’s life and well-being, is uplifting. God Bless.
