NHI Studio City Grad Walter “Jai” White has a multi-faceted career in Massage and Neuromuscular Therapy and NEVER stops learning

Walter “Jai” White is a graduate of NHI Studio City’s Core and Advanced Neuromuscular Therapy Programs

Walter “Jai” White is a graduate of both the Core and Advanced Neuromuscular Therapy (ANMT) Programs at NHI Studio City. Jai provides us with an account of his incredible story of how a camping trek turned into a mutli-faceted career in Massage and Neuromuscular Therapy and how he never stops learning.

I am retired United States Air Force officer of fifteen years of honorable service. I got into massage from a four-day camping trek of the ancient Inca Trail to Machu Picchu in Peru. One of the individuals on the trek started getting cramps in her legs and intuitively, I went to help. She said “Jai you need to get paid for this!” It happened a second time on the trek and she said it again. It was confirmation I guess. When I returned stateside from my trip, I went through a transition class to prepare for military separation and a former student that I was affiliated with mentioned a school that he and his wife went to get massages. I later inquired about it, attended, received my certification and eventually went back to teach. Opportunities arose to work for a chiropractor, collegiate sports teams, a professional football team, the corporate world, the medical industry, volunteering for health fairs and organizing for non-profit organizations such as Los Angeles Pancreatic Cancer Network and holding a position as Massage Team Captain for AIDS/LifeCycle.

“Massage therapy is a very unique profession in the holistic industry. One will be a remarkable asset as an individual in massage therapy when you understand yourself fully in knowing why you aspire to pursue a career with empathy, compassion and continued knowledge. Always have an “Empty Cup” when learning and you will reach your greatest potential.”

NHI helped me obtain work I love with the vast knowledge through the Core and ANMT curriculums. I gained more experience of learning different modalities, consistently connecting and networking with peers and being a part of a forever growing family. I was also given the opportunity to utilize my teaching and mentoring skills to be a tutor while in the Core and ANMT programs. I also have a Masters in Education and a Masters in Business that are helping me pursue my future goals.

Currently, I am embarked on a planning phase in creating my own rejuvenation self-care line, such as body scrubs, oils and bath salts. Furthermore, I am pursuing a certification as an Ayurvedic Wellness Educator and Practitioner to incorporate a unique practice along with my Advanced Neuromuscular Therapist and Health Educator certification.
